Billabong’s “Design For Humanity” goes to the streets. Well, the fake streets. The 6th annual fashion bash takes over Paramount Studios’ backlot again this year, with a block party featuring live bands (Walk the Moon, Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers and The Joy Formidable), food trucks, DJs, and of course, the main event, a swimsuit fashion show.
According to Billabong, tribal and street art references will be seen in this year’s bikini brigade. Muralist and painter Maya Hayuk collaborated on some designs as well. While many shown will be one of a kind, several looks will be available for purchase at Billabong.com.
Fashionista fetes are all well and good, but the thing that makes D.F.H. so special is, well, its humanity. 100% of ticket sales and proceeds from art auctions and product collaboration sales are donated to deserving causes and charities. This year it’s for the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, aimed at supporting sustainable foods for future generations via family farms, environmental initiatives, and youth education programs.
Tonight (7/25/12) 7 p.m. At Paramount Studios, NY Streets Backlot in Hollywood. Tickets: $30, VIP $99 with all proceeds benefiting The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. Tickets at Designforhumanity.com.
