Does Friday the 13th really bring bad luck? Not for tattoo addicts in LA. This Friday marks the third Friday the 13th of the year, and with it the tradition of $13 tattoos to commemorate the “holiday.” Patron Saints of this day, True Tattoo on Cahuenga near Hollywood Blvd., will once again host a 24-hour tattoo de force for first timers and heavily inked alike. A fun, frivolous fix for latter, these quickie pieces are also a way to see if you might be ready for the pain that comes with something more serious. The shop’s got a lot of choices too, prepped with a poster board of pint sized flash featuring the notoriously unlucky digits incorporated into dozens of designs and symbols– everything from Mickey Mouse ears to Vegas dice. Even the masked of the man of the hour/horror, Jason Voorhees, is an option.
Take a look at some of the designs we grabbed from True Tattoo’s Facebook page below. (Note: a $7 gratuity is added to every tattoo for an even $20, and all transactions are cash only by request of the venue). The event is known to pack a line, being the only shop in Hollywood to promote such an offer, so be sure to arrive early! Or, follow your tattoo loyalties and call to see if your favorite parlor is participating.
